We strongly encourage children to bring real food instead of bars, squeeze pouch foods, lunchables or other prefab food items. To encourage independence it is essential that all lunches are packed in easy to open containers and/or lunch bags and are ‘spill proof’. Wraps, sandwiches, rice paper rolls, small dumplings, bite sized cut meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables with yoghurt or another dip. These ideas all work well and give you plenty of opportunities to vary with different food items and tastes. And yes, we do heat up your child’s lunch when asked, so feel free to fill their lunch box with yummy leftovers!
