- Our classroom is a responsive, prepared and adaptive environment that responds to the child’s emergent and evolving needs, and is one designed for their interest, abilities and potentials.
- Children learn by actively working with the concrete materials at the beginning and move on to more abstract concepts when they are ready. All specifically designed Montessori learning materials are arranged on open shelves for easy access by the child.
- Within our classroom setting, children strive to realize their own potential, solve their own problems and master their skills at their own pace. Children are encouraged to respect and support one another in their learning, and with their daily needs and experiences. Learning for them is a social process.
- Children construct their own intelligence. Concentration and engagement are enhanced by children being able to choose their own activities (in Montessori classrooms, we call them “jobs”) from a carefully prepared curriculum. The drive toward competence is fuelled by the child’s natural curiosity and interest.
- The children in our classroom enjoy freedom with responsibility and clear limits, which support the development of self-discipline and independence within each child. As you walk into our classroom, you will see happy, busy children working purposefully on “jobs” that they have chosen for themselves.
- Our experienced Montessori teachers will create and facilitate a sense of order, attractiveness and joy of learning in the classroom. They are highly capable of observing, reflecting and planning for each child’s individualized progress.
