On Wednesday the 21st March 2018, Banksia Montessori celebrated Harmony Day. Parents, students and staff were encouraged to dress in their own national costumes. The parents were also asked to bring in items for display purposes from their ‘home’ country. This gave the school community an opportunity to learn about one another’s traditions.
Families brought in delicious cultural dishes to share, celebrating our cultural diversity. Everyone had an great time tasting the variety of foods. The children were exposed to various cultures and traditions.
On Harmony Day, the children develop a wonderful sense of pride for their nationality and heritage. They learn to value the differences of their fellow students whilst educating them in other traditions.
